RemiliaNET Alpha v0.5: Christmas Crafting Update
Christmas is finally here and at the time of this post, RemiliaNET has generated 1,793 Santa hats for cheery users with its in-house Santafy Xmas Hat Generator. Upon this Yuletide season, RemiliaNET officially and ultimately wishes you a very Merry Christmas. You may now unwrap your presents to reveal a brand new cartridge for Beetleboy: BeetleCraft
Try not to get overwhelmed with all the new items and beetles available to you, including the new wintery holiday beetles, available for a limited time.

BeetleCraft
The new crafting gamemode represents the first serious expansion of the Beetlegaming meta, implementing a rigorous crafting tree between two different modes: (1) Assemble, (2) Smash. Your beetles and many new items can now be combined together in various discoverable recipes.
BeetleCraft not only provides purpose to your growing stockpile of beetles but acts as a central hub for a growing beetle economy, compelling users to now make conscious decisions with their beetle bags and commit to speculative crafting strategies for best utilizing their cache of resources.
New Items and Beetles
You'll notice that in BeetleCatch, alongside your usual hunted or claimed beetles, you can now gather various items from the forest grounds along your journey. These items can range from rare and unique flowers to various pieces of detritus, litter, and discarded junk which can be harvested for raw material. Alongside dozens of junk items, we have included 9 new beetles (counting the Holiday Beetles and 14 different flowers for you to discover.
Many of our new beetles, flowers, and powerful mysterious resources can only be obtained through crafting. The recipes are unrecorded and unsaved, you must discover them through trial and error, intuition, and methodical tinkering. Share your discovered recipes with the community to help build a compendium of knowledge or gatekeep your treasured secrets as feverishly as you wish, the choice is yours.
Assembly and Smash
The two modes in BeetleCraft are delineated by ingredient and output category. Assembly is for harvesting the junk you collect into densely compacted cubes which can be used to create hammers and a variety of other raw materials. Smash is for using those hammers to combine beetles together into manmade abominations never before seen on RemiliaNET.
Each recipe has a certain percentage chance of success, which can be enhanced by using certain items in various tiers. Users will be informed whether their recipe is unsuccessful or simply invalid. Ingredients will be returned to inventory upon failing a valid recipe, although costs and risks will be implemented in controlled measurable means. Feel free to craft uninhibited and experiment wildly, there's nothing you'll lose that cannot be recovered with fairly balanced value and rarity. Just remember, every beetle you accidentally smash to death is on YOU.
Navigation, Classification, and Features
We have now implemented a number of QoL features to help navigate the flood of new inventory items you'll be collecting and crafting
- Item rarity is now color coded on both inventory buttons and card backgrounds. The rarity tiers are as follows:
Junk > Tin > Bronze > Mithril > Adamantine > Diamond - Tooltips will now display item names and relevant stats upon hovering to help ease scrutinizing your stockpile
- A drag-'n-drop system has been applied to BeetleCraft for intuitive interaction with your inventory, with click-to-select options for certain mechanics as an accessibility alternative, visual feedback with hover states and keyboard navigation, and swap functionality between input slots
- You'll notice unlockable crafting slots which requires crafting a special item. The only hints we'll provide is that once you've unlocked it, you get it for both crafting modes and it's unlocked forever.
Holiday Beetles
Just as you saw on Halloween, two new winter beetles and their respective beetlegirls have been added for a limited time during the holiday season. You have two weeks to catch them, but don't be dismayed if you miss out, these same beetles will be back next December. Also, these holiday beetles are catch-only, noncraftable.
