RemiliaNET Alpha v0.4: Christmas Season

Christmas decorations are up on RemiliaNET! Enjoy the wintery festive theme and feel free to shake the presents we left for you under the twinkling yule lights of a powered-up Beetleboy. Along with the holiday cheer, we present you with another round of fixes in our ongoing crusade towards optimizing for the New Internet.

Christmas Theme

Much like the Halloween theme, we've reskinned the site for a seasonal aesthetic, paired with decorations, colors, and wonderful sounds to fit the mood. Each profile picture now comes strung with Christmas lights. As we approach closer to December 25th, we'll be unveiling another surprise for users to personalize and customize themselves during the holiday season.

Beetleboy Updates

Mysterious Wrapped Presents

Users may find a special wrapped gift under their Beetleboys. You will be given one of several wrap/ribbon color schemes persistent to your account. Not that we'd ENCOURAGE tribalizing into fiercely competitive factions based on arbitrary color designations, but if you should choose to engage in violent clan wars on the timeline then we won't get in your way... You can expect to unwrap your new gift closer to Christmastime, it'll be yours forever.

New Animations

Video clip based animations for Beetle Catch have now been replaced with a new in-site sprite animation. The visual assets will likely change into more polished variations with fancier animations further in the future. This new system is streamlined for the robust implementation of dozens, potentially hundreds of new beetles with minimal impact on site performance. This allows us to update Beetle Catch much more rapidly, bringing content to the ravenous insatiable mob of beetle collectors that our community has become.

Crucial Fixes

  • Universal Basic Cheese timer has been restored to global reset parameters
  • User leveling has been repaired, with built-up XP automatically leveling users to their proper state immediately
  • Cheese streaks broken during maintenance have been restored to all users who adhered to their daily cheese claim
  • Fixed missing sound effects for enhanced Pavlovian dopamine reward feedback mechanics

Just as a reminder, we are tracking user data with scheduled backups. As we continue to improve the site and implement updates, any disruption to your inventory, streaks, XP, leveling, or general game status will be rectified by our loyal and steadfast development team. If you ever encounter issues with any of your Beetleboy games please notify us through the bug report module so we can reach out and handle it.

Also, don't fret, you'll be getting special holiday beetles in the next update in December. We just wanted to roll out the Christmas theme a little early.

Announcement System

RemiliaNET now features an announcement system with first-login shoutboxes and persistent background notice for site-wide visibility on any events, project releases, developments, or happenings which merit your attention. We promise not to abuse the announcement system except for big news, but we cannot promise that we won't implement some future mechanism that allows you to blast the entire userbase with site-wide announcements in exchange for massive one-per-use fees as part of our planned Pay-2-Win social media MMO meta strategy implementation. You can expect our first official RemiliaNET announcement in the coming weeks to be plastered on your screens, but don't worry, we'll still provide comms on all the usual platforms as well.
